A vector in definition is a quantity that has magnitude (size) and direction while maps are geographical documentations of the dominant features either man made or natural in a given location. Vector maps thus combine both the magnitude feature and the geographical data. In most cases the maps can be defined as a navigation tool since they are supposed to help the user in their travels making sure that they do not get lost in travels. A more complicated definition of the maps is a set of assigned events that have a vector time associated with the assigned value; it can also be classified as a collection or key or value points such as a hash table.
Use of the vector maps is challenging especially to the first time user, the user has to ensure that they understand the design of the maps in order to efficiently use them. One of the problems with the maps is that they hold lots of data, and it may be difficult to work with the map if it is not well organized. With the maps it is possible to edit the data collected and make the appearance and effectiveness of the maps stand out. One can make use of the map layers, text and colors to manage the maps via editing.
The first thing to look into is the understanding the map layers. When one uses illustrator to open the maps, the layers are viewed in palette. A brief introduction to the palette layers and the structure of the maps can help in the organization of data on the map since it will allow one to easily display certain features of the map as well as allow one to feature layers on the map that they want to.
One can also edit the map by varying the color of the display user interface. The user has great control on how their vector maps appear and though in most cases they are left in their default state, an individual looking to change the appearance of the map can rely on coloring. Using the illustrators features of fill and stroke ban help in editing the map in where the user can select an area and use the fill function to fill in some color and then use the stroke function n for finer details.
Though a map can be a pictorial representation of an area, the use of text in the maps is one of the most helpful aspects. Text can be used in detailing the map and ensuring that the user gets the most out of the map. One of the best features of the maps is the flexibility to edit text in the illustration, in most designs the illustration can be personalized to change the appearance of text in the map. With the editing option one can select and edit the text objects and also layers. Using the same features of the vector maps it is possible to create vector notes that will make the use even much easier.
